Having the characteristics of a metal

Jumper & Shoes: Topshop, Dress: New Look, Necklace & Bag: River Island
An outfit for a stormy day, I wore this for a little family meal and although its girly I felt a balance between comfortable and dressed up. Though its a little much with a purple party dress, adding a jumper is a great way to make it more casual. I paired it with my extremely over worn 'robots in love' necklace and then my new clutch bag that I've been dying to use!
And yes, my shiny shoes are making another appearance, I'm simply in love with them and with the metallic trend in general. They've given me so many outfit ideas, so expect to see them again soon :)

Rimmel match perfection foundation #100happydays

Rimmel match perfection foundation in Light Porcelain (010)

Any one with a ghostly pale complexion like me will understand the struggles of finding a good high street foundation, whilst avoiding a tangerine tint. So you can understand my excitement when stumbling across the swatches for this. Not only does 'porcelain' describe my skin perfectly, at only £6.99 it was a match made in heaven for a bargain hunter. Combined with a primer and a setting powder it's staying power has been fab for everyday wear. AND amazingly enough I've had no problems with the formulation irritating my skin so far. I'll be sticking with this for a while, after all, a good foundation equals a happy girl.

On a side note, after acquiring a new phone I can feel an Instagram addiction brewing. So I've decided to invest wisely and commit to the 100 days of happiness challenge. For those that don't know, this involves posting a snap each day of a happy moment to your chosen social media site along with #100happydays.

January blues

“Spring passes and one remembers one's innocence.
Summer passes and one remembers one's exuberance.
Autumn passes and one remembers one's reverence.
Winter passes and one remembers one's perseverance.”
Though we've not yet left the dark and gloomy depths of winter, I find my thoughts drifting towards spring and the refresh it brings to fashion. With happier pastels and such sweet childish quirks overtaking our wardrobes. 2013 saw the domination of the peter pan collar throughout the seasons, as well as, the Jelly sandal madness. I've yet to fully indulge in these and look forward to moving away from the edgy to the innocence. I'm also looking to make more of an effort with girly motifs in the coming months. Having already delved into pointed flats, statement necklaces are next on my wish list along with some feminine frocks and heaps of makeup on there too.
But for now I'll have to stick to my boots, tights and wrapped up a coat until the wind and rain passes.

A bit of shine for winter day

Coat: H! by Henry Holland for Debenhams, Top: H&M, Skirt: H&M, Shoes: Topshop, Nail Varnish: Topshop in Nice 'n' neutral
I first saw these metallic flats on the Topshop website and just adored them, so to find them in the sale for £7 made my day. A metallic finish is a no brainer trend for the New year and they certainly bring a shine to a dreary January day in the UK. I've never been sure about pointed flats, but it adds an extra daintiness, along with a smidgen of a heel. Unfortunately, for the moment they rub as the material is really rigid, hopefully with a little breaking in they'll be perfect...or at least they'll look pretty, right?

I decided to wear these with an almost all black outfit, to really make them stand out and it also gives a slight space feel. With the fitted black skirt contrasted by the baggy baseball top to make it a bit more casual. However, my coat really domineers in this photo as I love the combination of dark green and black. Along with the boyish features it adds.

Finishing with a shameful selfie, I'm really pleased with how fast my hair is growing!

An ideal evening clutch with neutral nails

A quick January sales shop brought me to this gorgeous oversized envelope clutch. The first thing that drew me to it was the colour, a pretty lilac base with a gold metallic finish, bang on trend and a personal fave. With the size being handy enough to fit all the essentials and still suitable for an evening do. It does have a thin chain attached to use as a shoulder strap, though I think its best hand-held.

Paired best with a neutral nail colour, allowing the bag to take centre stage, but still giving a really pretty look. I love the formulation of Topshop nail varnish and this one is no exception. An even though it shouldn't matter, I really like the Topshop makeup range packaging too!

And as I write this post, my feet are enjoying my final find, some adorable knitted fox slippers from H&M. Though a little on the big side, they provide comfort and cute to a lazy night in. However, I did find one more bargain in Topshop, keep an eye out for an outfit post soon.
